Kristen Jussila is a designer who has spent time studying Industrial Design, Sustainability, as well as Urban Development in South Africa. Her two years at Savannah College of Art and Design studying Industrial Design developed her love of innovation and creativity, but also provided her with a unique opportunity to explore this interest with state of the art facilities. After two years of attending SCAD she decided to transfer to Keene State College to study Sustainability and Product Design. Keene put a bigger focus on manufacturing processes and a more conscientious understanding of the impact of design, which spoke more of her end goals as a designer.
Since graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science from Keene State College, Kristen has moved her focus to graphic design and marketing. She is currently working as Director and head of Design and Marketing for the CYNTHIA-REEVES gallery. She was instrumental in the re-branding the gallery which included a complete website overhaul, updating all print and digital promotional materials, and introducing a new social media strategy.
Her most recent project as Director has been the creation and implementation of a project space at the gallery’s presence on the campus of MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. The program aims to create a space that provides a dynamic exchange between art-making and the community. Dialog and interaction between visitors is a hallmark of this new initiative. Artists create work on-site while visitors flow in and out of the space. Kristen hopes that the interaction between the artist and visitors will create opportunities for exchanges of ideas and exposure to the art-making process.
